Many people today tend to think of Jesus as a nice man who went from place to place saying things that you might find in a Hallmark card. To a lot of people, Jesus was perhaps like Mr. Rogers, gently soothing the anxious souls of the troubled people He bumped into. But the reason that this is the common conception of Jesus today is because people haven’t really read the Bible. Because the real Jesus caused controversy everywhere he went. He wasn’t nailed to a Roman cross for the crime of giving life hints to help people with their self-esteem.
